Allergic reactions can range from mild rashes and sneezing attacks, to distressing widespread hives and skin swelling, breathing difficulties and in the most severe cases life threatening anaphylaxis.
Allergies can have an impact on a child’s physical, social and emotional wellbeing, affecting performance at school, relationships with family and friends and social outings.
CYANS, the Children and Young People’s Allergy Network Scotland, is a National Managed Clinical Network that has been established to focus on improving health service provision for children and young people with allergies in Scotland.
CYANS was developed as a result of a review of allergy services in Scotland which highlighted the need for improvements in allergy service provision and is funded by the Scottish government.
